The sacred rite to Heron is traditionally administered in his great temple at Hapolis to induct new members of their mystery cult. However an ancient promise requires them to permit anyone capable of reading more than one ancient script to attempt the ritual - even enemies of the cult.
Nautilus venom is used to drive the initiate mad with thirst over the course of the blue moon, before permitting them to imbibe a psychoactive elixir brewed from their own blood. From there the initiate passes into an ephemeral realm containing a seemingly infinite library of books. Each book is 410 pages long, with unrelenting pages of 40 lines each of 80 random letters. Amidst this enormity the initiate must locate a book which contains a single coherent sentence and speak it aloud. These words themselves are then written down by the scribes to be consulted for divinatory use later.
It is a mathematical certainty that inside those vast halls lies a perfect book written by Heron himself, containing all wisdom and knowledge. Yet so vast is that realm it is said that not even the gods themselves would live long enough to find it.
