The city of New Lankh did not exist until twenty years ago. During the last conjunction of the Wandering Moon the community appeared in its current location. Although astronomers had long been aware that the Wandering Moon was not merely a celestial body, but another world populated by its own people, the sudden proof of this still came as a shock to the Shrinelands.

Before its teleportation New Lankh was a district of Lankh, grand capitol of Mortania. Now it occupies an uneasy position in the politics of the Shrinelands, caught between the rivalry of Hapolis and Chimericon.

The city itself is a sooty dark labyrinth due to a spell that prevents wind from entering the city. Primarily this is useful as many of the alchemical and mechanical innovations which the city depends upon are thwarted by exposure to the various winds of the Shrinelands; however many speculate that secret forces in the city have their own reasons for maintaining it as a dark and insular sanctuary.

Amongst these inventions include numerous marvels unheard of to the rest of the world. Pipes direct the flow of energetic liquids which create gateways of force and flame. Foundries create potent metals which retain greater strength and sharpness. Clockwork controls sluice gates and other marvels are commonplace within this shadowed city.

  • A close associate was part of a cell of saboteurs attempting to destroy the Dome of Preservation, or a member of the Watch who caught them. Possibly both simultaneously.
  • Numerous flux barriers block the lower sections of the city, but in the depths is great wealth for those bold enough to seek it.
